Nordmann
Fir is a new type of Christmas tree in America but has been used
for many years in Europe.
Nordmann Fir (Abies nordmanniana) is a true fir tree native to
the Republic of Georgia and northern Turkey. Grow experimentally
in Oregon for the last fifteen years, superior seed sources and
improved production methods have produced absolutely beautiful trees
that look like the perfect Christmas Tree. Now the first production
fields are starting to harvest. If you feel like trying something
new this Christmas, try one of these Nordmann Fir. They are a remarkable
tree.
Nordmann Fir have beautiful soft shiny needles with a deep green
color. They have evenly spaced strong branches perfect for heavy
ornaments. They keep exceptionally well, too. Because of their very
limited plantings over the last eight years here in Oregon, there
are just not very many tree lots that have Nordmann Fir yet. We
just introduced our first cutting last year. This species will undoubtedly
become the most sought after Christmas trees once the word really
gets out. Nordmann Fir are currently available up to about 10' feet
tall.
