Ethan and Mark joined together in a live LA Talk Radio broadcast from Santa & Sons Christmas tree lot on Sunday, Dec 4th, 2011 to donate 100 Christmas trees to Los Angeles area veterans. The program was organized by Combat Radio and the US Marine Corps who also conducted a successful Toys for Tots drive at the Christmas tree lot. These awards were presented by Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Millage Peaks to Mark Rohlfs of Santa & Sons Christmas Trees for charitable giving demonstrating a sustained commitment to the local community over the last decade.
Stars Show Support for Trees for Troops
Trees for Troops, sponsored by FedEx and the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation delivered over 18,000 trees last year to military families across the United States and overseas. See http://www.treesfortroops.org/
Santa and Sons was joined by the community and international celebrities in a show of support for the US troops abroad and their families locally.
Samuel L Jackson and Mike Farrell join Mark to emphasize the importance of the Trees for Troops campaign.
"We are delighted and very grateful that Samuel L. Jackson and Mike Farrell came here to help us and the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation's Trees for Troops program," says Rohlfs, an Oregon tree grower whose lot has been operating in the Los Angeles area since 1992. "This program gives everyone a chance to do something to let deserving military families know that we are thinking about them at Christmas."
Grossman Burn Center Tree Donation
LA Fire Captain Ruda arranged for his fire team to install a tree donated by Santa and Sons to the Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks. Dr. Grossman topped the tree with some help from the Van Nuys fire department ladder truck.
LA Family Housing Tree Donation
There were a lot of very happy young faces on the morning Santa and Sons donated an 18' foot tall Noble Fir to Los Angeles Family Housing. When these kids remember the giant Christmas tree from their youth, they'll remember putting on the top decoration from the second story window!
Christmas should be joyful; a time to revel in the beauty of the season and a time to demonstrate a generous spirit benefiting one's neighbors and community.
Santa and Sons recognizes their unique role in spreading holiday cheer to people in need of some of that Yuletide spirit. Somewhat resembling Santa with his long hair and gray beard, Mark cheerily moves out in the community to drop off trees. Acting like Santa is great fun and so is delivering some special Christmas trees during the holidays. We ask all members of the community to donate to charitable organizations at Christmastime that support families. Santa & Sons will provide free delivery within our regular service area for any tree donated to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
